Biography

Rolando Escalona serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 3, representing the diverse and historic neighborhoods of Little Havana, East Shenandoah, West Brickell, Silver Bluff, The Roads, and surrounding communities. Elected in December 2025, Commissioner Escalona brings a new generation of leadership focused on accountability, accessibility, and delivering real results for residents. Born in Havana, Cuba, Commissioner Escalona immigrated to the United States and was raised in Miami. His story reflects the lived experience of many in D3: resilience, hard work, and opportunity. He began his career in the hospitality industry, starting as a busboy and working his way up to become a general manager of a major Brickell restaurant, overseeing large teams and complex operations.

I do want to say that I think this is probably the most important project for our County. I know that for the folks in downtown, Edgewater, Brickell, everybody in this County, traffic is just unbearable, so if there's a way for us to lighten that load, I would, whatever we need to do to collaborate, prioritize, help, support, please let us know because we're 100% behind it.
