follow the money it's not funded in the Senate at all neither one of our two projects is funded in the Senate and only one is funded in the House which means that only trial rail will probably be talked about in conference.

analyzing legislative funding priorities for Tri-Rail and Northeast Corridor

I think what's happening is that there is a spread. This bill is probably a priority for the governor. The 1134, the diversity equity and inclusion right? This has been an ongoing theme for the governor

discussing HB 1134 and the governor's legislative priorities

Could our chief just make one point of clarification? I think it's important.

Every time you see it, it's just a constant reminder of the haves and the have-nots. When Commissioner Gilbert makes his argument, he doesn't just leave it to where it's his district that does not have the rail. He reminds us that this rail exists in these other districts and we didn't make it pretty or useful like we have done it on Brickell.

Discussing disparities in infrastructure investment between districts, particularly regarding rail and the Brickell area

I think that we should really think through how is it that we can start to do these things and the more that we're able to add things to people's districts, especially distinct districts that are far apart from each other, the more we solve some of these problems like traffic and cost of living. Discussion of 8F1 parks maintenance costs during response from Parks Director

Did anyone anticipate, one, that we wouldn't have the revenue from the program to support all of the aims that we had for distribution? I know we gave a portion of those dollars to the Sheriff's Office. But it threw me for a loop, and I just was wondering if it threw any of you all for a loop that we weren't going to have the revenue to cover, and then, two, 100% of the dollars that were coming into Miami-Dade County were being first given to the Sheriff's Office before we were able to do anything within any of our districts for those dollars.

Discussion on item 14B-1 regarding Red Speed program revenue distribution and budget expectations

You're the tip of the sword on that because you're gonna be the person who gives us the information and helps us design pathways forward that will actually keep this community whole, which is central to all of our thoughts.

Describing OMB Director's critical role in navigating fiscal challenges

Our values document is our budget. How we actually spend our collective dollars, that's important. And that's often tested when we get into very tight times.

Emphasizing the significance of budget as expression of values

The budget is actually our budget. So the budget director works for the mayor, but the budget is adopted by the commission. The duty to be responsive to us is a consistent and persistent fact that I think you ought to go into this position being mindful of.

Instructing new OMB Director on commission authority over budget

If we get it at the end of the year, then we're not really getting it in this budget. We're getting it in the next budget, and it might be swept. That's my concern.

Concerns about timing of district funding from Red Speed program
