I guess the notarized form. So that way it can't be forged. Because I could also see a homeowner saying, Hey, you know, Mr. Contractor, I hired you to take care of all of this, you know, and they don't even know or care to put their email address in. You know, I don't know, unfortunately, that happens more often than than we care to admit.

Discussing notarization as verification method and homeowner apathy

I agree with both Commissioner Bhatt and Commissioner Fernandez about the issue, and I think we're all saying the same thing, but we just the issue is making sure that the property owner, the home owner, is aware of the permit process and making sure they have the correct information in there. And I don't know the answer of how to make sure. I mean, is it like a notarized document from the owner, a piece of paper that but anybody could forge that to. But I don't know the answers.

Discussing solutions for ensuring correct property owner contact information

Mitch, just to alleviate your concerns, it says in the legislation, no outdoor entertainment and no adult entertainment is permitted. And also, no portion should be located on the top floor of a building.

Responding to public commenter's concerns about outdoor entertainment

I love this legislation. I think this is great. I appreciate Mr. Wallach's point about 750. I think that the legislation reads up to 750, and I think that you'd have to have one heck of a marketing team to get 750 people in a startup that want a party in Miami Beach.

Supporting the entertainment ordinance and responding to concerns about capacity limits

I think that when we talk about releasing, relaxing some of the measures is that the beach is different now. People don't party on the beach after the Calvin Harris concert, everybody left. They hopped in their cars and they went to Wynwood. So I think we've grown up a bit. Alcohol sales are down throughout the country. I'm comfortable relaxing these measures because I don't anticipate having parties and drinking in cars and streets to the level that we had it three or four years ago. We are leaning into the wellness activations. We are leaning into being less of a party city.

Explaining rationale for relaxing strict spring break measures based on changed culture and marketing efforts

Have you, Chief, have you considered doing a DUI checkpoint leaving the city on Fifth Street as opposed to coming in?

Proposing alternative DUI checkpoint locations

Whereas they might go closer into the entertainment district to park and pay 20, 30, $40, they get two hours free at Fifth Street garage, which causes a lot of chaos because it's right there at the entrance and the exit of our city.

Explaining traffic and parking issues caused by free garage policy

I just want to reiterate that please, parking will whenever we look at garages and enforcement and all of that to please always remember the Fifth Street garage at Fifth and Alton. The Public's garage there. Because folks have figured out that that garage is the first two hours free.

Highlighting Fifth and Alton garage issues due to free parking policy

I want to suggest that if we are going to do license plate readers, that we actually have them, and maybe we already do. But have them going actually westbound on Fifth Street instead of coming in, because you do get folks that like to drink on the beach and then leave while they're inebriated.

Proposing LPR checkpoints on exit routes rather than entrance

I also agree with the license plate readers starting later in the evening so folks can come over here if they have an 8:09 P.M. dinner. They're not caught in a bunch of traffic.

Supporting delayed start time for LPR checkpoints

I also agree with opening up the beach access points so it doesn't kind of cluster in one area coming in and going out.

Supporting expanded beach access points

I also think we do not need the barricades on Washington or Collins. Let's allow people to park and let's allow people to park and go into our businesses in the area.

Supporting removal of barricades from commercial corridors

I've only been Commissioner for about five minutes, so I don't know if I can give you an appropriate evaluation. I understand that we have a lot coming up with Spring Break and you would like some feedback before all our focus goes to Spring Break. Maybe we do April, I don't know, or March. I mean, April date would align with the anniversary for the other Charter Officers that were reviewed last April.

C4-A, City Manager's annual performance evaluation, expressing hesitation about timing

Miami Beach is a pretty, pretty special place. A pretty amazing place. That doesn't mean there's not so much work to be done. If you don't buy into the social media, I have friends and community members of every single religion and race and color and belief and sex. When you go out there, I just encourage people to really dissect what's real and what's being fabricated online.

Response about community diversity and social media influence

There's the real world and the social media world, and you tune into this social media, and it is toxic. It really is. When I go to pick my daughter up from school, it is a beautiful community of parents of all race, color, gay parents, everything. There's so much toxicity that's brought online, not giving life advice up here, but it's sometimes intentionally designed to do so.

Commentary on social media toxicity versus real community

I'm not on Facebook and I won't be on Facebook. It's a toxic mess of negativity and I just I don't want to participate in that.

Explaining her media approach and decision not to engage on certain platforms

Anti-semitism has no place in Miami Beach, and we have a very large Jewish population here. This is their home, and they deserve to be safe and feel safe, just as our LGBTQ community deserves to feel safe here, too.

Statement on community safety and anti-discrimination

The trolley service is actually quite utilized, and I'd like to see, you know, some numbers, recent numbers this year, last year. Whenever that can be done.

I have an item on this agenda. It's Item R Nine AJ and I've asked the Mayor to call it later. It is about doing creative having creative proposals to generate revenue. One of them is naming rights. So once we have that discussion, I'd like to explore maybe that's a way that we can offset some of these costs that we're going to be spending on.
